In the "City of Dreams" adventure module, it looks like there's some text missing near the end of page 3.  The "Trick of the Ill Fate" for Oshi Nimble-Fingers has only "Sorceresses take stealing very personally." and stops there.  That's evocative, but not as detailed as the other tricks provided.  Is that all there is, or am I missing something?

  1. So the Trick of Ill Fate reads as follows:

Write down a lesson. Do not underestimate the inexperienced. Heed the prophecies. Tempt not Fate’s sense of irony. You may ignore one roll you just made and instead hit the Overtone to suffer a Moral with a consequence that leads to this lesson.

The lesson is "Sorceresses take stealing very personally."

Meaning Oishi (having stolen magical artifacts from the sorceress) is probably cursed. He can skip a roll to have her appear and mess up his day, or have the curse make things worse for him.

It's a bit of a way to bring his backstory into the game (and maybe learn a lesson in the process).

Since I gave a bit more writeup to the others I suppose I can flesh it out a smidge to make it more apparent.

Does that answer your question? (also thanks for the feedback!)

  2. Thanks so much!  I did completely miss that "Ill Fate" was a Trick from the full SwoM rules (pg 32 for the listeners at home). Your clarification is most helpful.  I enjoy the module and I look forward to playing with it.

  3. Hey - if you run it please do a writeup at least insofar to let us know how it goes! I'd love to hear any feedback you have and maybe tweak it for anyone else that would use it in the future.
