Below are images of my simulacrum, the map of the astral sea Emily Care Boss made that is the cover of my scrying journal, my scrying implements, and the final result of the scrying. You can follow along in my Twitter thread here: https://twitter.com/Epidiah/status/1022475319972962305?s=19

One thing that surprised me was how much my seer was developing into a full fledge character with desires and a personality. I must ponder this phenomenon more.

  1. I'd love to hear more about how your seer felt characterized. That's the most interesting part to me about the Ritual of Scrying: adding layers of story via new actors, new (still) fantastical perspectives, and thus meta-narrative.

  2. It's intriguing, isn't it? It came out after the first mystery was rolled, which was fairly early in the game. For mysteries, seers get to write their own questions and I thought about the sort of question my seer might ask, as opposed to a question that Aya herself might ask. And the question I came up with, though simple--"What mirrors can hold Aya of the Tide?"--struck me a bit too on point to be innocent curiosity.

I mean, it's not altogether sinister, but you don't go around Metropolis causally asking about Superman's weakness, right? Something has to be up. As more mysteries piled up, usually around Aya's or Losa's sorcerous powers, the more it became evident to me that my seer was most concern with their magical nature.

What really brought it together at the end was the clear implication that this was the tale that sent T'klik Chi'ik down his unfathomable and sorcerous path. As if this very moment in time was of grave concern to my seer.

  3. Epidiah Ravachol Golden. That's great.

Now I want the Ritual of Scrying (or a variant or follow-up) to invite a single active move or epilogue scene/moment from the seer after the scried tale ends, suggesting an intention or change that now drives the seer to concrete action (maybe with a tone roll).

EDIT to add: Kinda like the twist in the last half-minute of this music video: https://youtu.be/P_SlAzsXa7E
