So I made a thing...

So I made a thing...

It's a dice roller that creates a custom URL for your "room." You can then send that to the friends you are playing with and you can all watch/use the same dice at the same time... You can move the dice around real-time, group them, delete some or all of them, reroll some of them, etc. (It should make playing games like Dogs in the Vineyard and In A Wicked Age easier...)

I think it would work great for Swords Without Master too. My reasoning being that you can create labels which you could have for each character and the Overplayer. You could put those around the screen and then just have the two dice get moved around between the labels depending on who was "holding" them...

Other cool things it does:

* Supports open (ie not hidden) playing card draws (no jokers though)
* Safety Tools! Buttons for using John Stavropoulos' X-Card and Brie Sheldon's Script Change tools
* Double click already rolled dice to reroll them (perfect for SWM)
* Set a background image (great for maps or play mats or eidilons!)
* See totals of last rolled dice and of all dice on the table

It is still very much in beta, so if you run into issues, take a look at https://github.com/shanel/roller/issues to see if your problem is there, and if not log it!

If you get some use out of the site please consider making a donation to http://www.shantibhavanchildren.org/

Happy rolling!

  1. Does it always display them in lowest-to-highest order? Because it did for the 10 rolls I tried.

  2. Keith Stetson Yeah it does sort them by result, with fate dice at the end. At some point my hope is to allow you to to do that and sort the same size dice together too...

  3. Not sure how that would work for Swords, then, as it matters which die is higher?

  4. For Swords, I would roll 1d6 for one tone and 1d6(P) (i.e. with pips) for the other.

  5. +Keith Stetson You can change the color of the dice - the drop down menu on the far right let's you choose the color of the die when you roll. Here's an example... When you want to reroll them, just double click each die.

It is the feature I am currently working on. It will likely be something along the lines of your hosting the card images yourself (ie imgur or whatnot) and then passing in a list of Urls that make up the "deck". There would then be a need ui piece for drawing from those decks. It would be limited to the room itself.
