Scoundrels!

Scoundrels!

After countless eons, I am once again called to speak the words of Swords across the void of distance.

As in, I'm facilitating a game over hangouts soon. Last time, I used some Google Drive play aids created, I think, by Epidiah Ravachol himself. Are there any other instruments that we could use? Anything on Roll20?

As I was playing some games of SWM (and my own hack) recently, I've made up some cards for Tricks & Styles (in french). But I've also made what I think is good-looking Motifs sheet. And Motifs is written Motifs in french too.

I think it's normal to share this with you.
Scroll down the post to get the download link for the Motifs sheet (inside a PDF with the cards). The post talks (in french) about the Motifs and how great I think this tool is for SWM and how I (plan to) use it for my game.

The scribus file is available on demand if anyone wants to make such cards in another language.

Ran City of Fire & Coin for a couple of buddies a few weeks back, then immediately bought core rules. Great stuff but lots of new things for me to digest.

Part of my learning process is creating references and play aids, have just finished some tone cards for both overplayer and rogues. Next up we cards for tricks, a play sheet and maybe a character sheet.

Will post it all out to my google drive when complete.

Roll For Your Party (https://rollforyour.party) has gotten a pretty major update and a few minor ones:

* New dice graphics!!! Jesse Ross graciously created amazing SVGs for all of the dice (including all the DCC funky dice!)
* Jesse also created a new token image as well - now when you double click it a black circle shows on it instead of it turning white. (Though there is a checkbox to do the white token thing if you want.)
* The color of the arbitrary-size dice (XdY) will now match the rest of the dice.
* Fixed a bug where sizing for added images wasn’t respected.

Roll For Your Party (https://rollforyour.party) has gotten a few updates:

* Clocks!!! For all you fans of countdown clocks (I’m looking at you scoundrels skulking around in the dark!) we’ve got 4/6/8/threat clocks - give them a title and then double-click (ie reroll) to advance them and long press to decrement them.
* Speaking of rerolling… If you hold down shift while selecting things it will prevent you from accidentally rerolling anything.
* Even more rerolling news: the button is now green! (I got feedback that people didn’t use it because they didn’t notice it.)
* Added a visible count of the tokens out on the “table.”

Hi folks

Hi folks ! I'm preparing to run Swords Without Master in a Conv in a month. I've made up a "Tone Card" that you can see here. The Gloom one is being made (already exists in French, but thought it would be good in english too). Goal is to have such card being flipped during the game, with the Inspiration Words for the Tone visible for all players.

As I'm playing with the French version, I may have forgotten some relevant words, or added some not so correct. You can participate in updating the list.

I'll try a print soon to see if the colors are correctly rendered. The final file should be available on DTRP at the cost of PWYW.

EDIT : now on DTRPG - http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/223233/Glum-Jovial-Tone-Cards

Roll For Your Party (https://rollforyour.party/) has gotten a few updates and bug fixes:

You can add arbitrary images to the room - they act just like dice and cards.
There is now a button to roll XdY - it’ll output just like the Funky dice do.
Fixed a bug where custom sets would include a blank member.

Roll For Your Party (that dice roller thingy) has been updated in a variety of ways to improve your dice rolling (and card drawing) experience:

* Minor UI improvements and bugfixes.
* Support for funky/weird dice from DCC. (Though no custom images… yet.)
* Double-clicking (ie rerolling) tokens will set them to the color white, doing it again will set them back.
* Double clicking the labels for inputs (eg “d6” or “tokens”) will get you a single one of those.
* Move multiple selected things as a group. (Long press on the last selection (the one you move the group with) if you happen to want them all to end up in a single stack. Then click “reveal selected” (if what you selected wasn’t hidden) or “hide selected” (if it was hidden) to deselect the stack.)

Roll For Your Party (that online multi-user dice rolling thing) has been updated in a variety of ways to improve your dice rolling (and card drawing) experience:

* Color choices stick: now when you choose Orange as your die color it will stay that way until you change it again.
* Choose to have dice sorted or not.
* Custom sets (ie custom decks/pools): Have a set of images you’d like to use as a randomized deck? (Tarot cards perhaps? (https://gist.github.com/shanel/e8e1e41f7a92c6a89172ccb7643eff4e)) Make a list of all the urls to those images and paste it into the form!
* Hidden draws: When pulling cards from the playing card deck or custom sets you can choose to have them only visible to you until you explicitly select and reveal them. (Yes, you can re-hide a selected card too.)
* You can save the previous roll’s inputs.
* Modifiers are now a thing.
*Fixed a bug where extra Aces would show up in a re-shuffled deck.

Coming soon: screencasts covering how to use all of the site's functionality and how to use the site to help you play +Paul Czege’s The Clay That Woke.

So I made a thing...

So I made a thing...

It's a dice roller that creates a custom URL for your "room." You can then send that to the friends you are playing with and you can all watch/use the same dice at the same time... You can move the dice around real-time, group them, delete some or all of them, reroll some of them, etc. (It should make playing games like Dogs in the Vineyard and In A Wicked Age easier...)

I think it would work great for Swords Without Master too. My reasoning being that you can create labels which you could have for each character and the Overplayer. You could put those around the screen and then just have the two dice get moved around between the labels depending on who was "holding" them...

Other cool things it does:

* Supports open (ie not hidden) playing card draws (no jokers though)
* Safety Tools! Buttons for using John Stavropoulos' X-Card and Brie Sheldon's Script Change tools
* Double click already rolled dice to reroll them (perfect for SWM)
* Set a background image (great for maps or play mats or eidilons!)
* See totals of last rolled dice and of all dice on the table

It is still very much in beta, so if you run into issues, take a look at https://github.com/shanel/roller/issues to see if your problem is there, and if not log it!

If you get some use out of the site please consider making a donation to http://www.shantibhavanchildren.org/

Happy rolling!

Hail the Masterless!

Hail the Masterless!

If like me when acting as Overplayer you sometimes need a little reminder about things like how do I end a Rogues' Phase or which is the Mystery and which is the Moral, and how do those work, maybe these simple resources I created will help:

A page on my website that just lists the basics (check the link).

And there's a link there to a printable "mini-book" you can make yourself with all the key facts.

Let me know if you find any errors in these, and thanks to Epidiah for such a great game!

Wolfspell setup cards

Wolfspell setup cards

My graphic eclecticism has led me to do another play aid for Epidiah Ravachol’s beautiful game Wolfspell. This time they are a bunch of cards to speed up the setup of the game.

I hope you like them! ;-)

Rolled a Stymie when creating some epic imagery for your Tale?

Rolled a Stymie when creating some epic imagery for your Tale? FEAR NOT! The Dread Wizard Epidiah has helpfully created random tables of miscellanies and sundries of all sort: 36 Wondrous Sights, 36 Ill Omens, 36 Treasures to be Sought, and many more!

Heretofore, these miscellanies have appeared at the back of each issue of Worlds Without Master (which you're reading, right?), and thus been a bit tricky to flip to in the heat of the moment, while players demand action and adventure. But now, with the Dread Wizard's blessing, I have compiled them into a single spreadsheet which produces, upon rolling, three miscellanies of each sort! At present, with 10 tables published, this is 30 inspirations in a single keystroke!

Happy adventuring!

I'm sure I'm not the only one completely smitten with #Starward. The Ritual of Strange & Wondrous Encounters is highly effective at generating great alien material for play. Let's share our alien races and planets!
