As you've probably heard, I'm revamping the Patreon page for Worlds. A large part of this revamp involves getting a new video.

Behold, the old video below. The music in that video is "Stoneworld Battle" by Kevin MacLeod. If you are unfamiliar with Kevin's work, he's behind Incompetech, which is like a one-stop shopping place for royalty free music. http://incompetech.com/music/royalty-free/collections.php

I've spent the past hour down that rabbit hole looking for new music for the new Worlds video. I dig "Stoneworld Battle." It feels like the Basil Poledouris soundtrack for Conan the Barbarian. But it's a bit ponderous and long. I'm looking for another piece that says sword and sorcery and high adventure, but does it in about a minute and a half to two minutes.

I'm starting a thread here to save some of the ones I like. If you have a moment to dig around on the site and happen to find a few you like, too, feel free to post them. But be forewarned! Time with evaporate on you swifter than you can imagine. Tread carefully.

  1. "The Descent" sounds a tad less "big and epic" but could be good as background music.

Also, starting around 1:15 there's a nice swelling in the music.

  2. Speaking of "big", "Achilles" makes good use of the brass section. Maybe a bit short?

  3. (Tangent: I knew the name 'incompetech' sounded familiar - I've printed off a bunch of graph paper from his site.)

  4. I liked the final music choice: driving and ominous. I can see the opening credits of a Conan movie, with our protagonists purposefully marching through the sun scorched wastes, grim determination on their features.

  5. Renato Ramonda Feel free to share, but don't feel you have to just yet.

I have a resharing battle plan for next week. I'm basically going to encourage the Patron Horde and members of this community to talk in public about specific issues on each weekday next week. I'll have more on that plan a little later.
