Snorri Draugrmead

All that deserves a name

The tippler - the great, jangling, rune embossed wagon. Filled with casks, decanters, flasks and dubious yeasts.

Arch spigot - made from the esophagus of a forest troll, it speaks of the brewing processes in a language only completely decipherable by the combined wits of Snorri and the entourage.

Spirits of the Entourage brewers fine - brewers, alcoholics, scholars, skalds, bards and squatters all, these eight fine people of all races once experimented as equals with snorri. Now they are all dead. All that remains is their spirits.

The prayer-bird - a glum reminder that haunts Snorri.

Cask of no name - the container of containers, nameless here forever more.

the stein-stein - stein made of stone hewn from the trees of the petrified woods of Andalheimn.

Feats heroic

Glum
Snorri ponders over many a quaint volume of forgotten brew descriptions, as spirit-kisses rise from his long dead friends with the lamp light gloating over.

Jovial
Opening a valve, the spigot incants an ancestral recipe as Snorri quenches his thirst in a tar-thick brew of over 200% alcohol by volume.

Trick
Compact - “... and we do it drunk, tipsy, completely wasted or with brew in hand.”

Veles Svitlychny, Andy Hauge, i have some questions in addition regarding handling the intrigue phase - after Fastaval i have promised to play some... I mean a lot of Shades Without Mirror.

I may need some help.

I cannot put my finger on it, but to me, it seems as if the intrigue phase has a higher skill level needed to really make nice questions. The limits it imposes are nice, but having some additional concrete examples to show people would be nice.

Since the questions should implicate the punk too, or draw them in, i could imagine that stifling the player. I could imagine the overplayer/Mr. Smith help with the implicating part. Akin to the overplayer helping with escalation?
How have you done it?

-----
For the un-inducted, here is the intrigue phase, copied directly from Andy's vampire post.

The Intrigue Phase
This phase corresponds to the Discovery phase, but is focused on figuring out what your Vampire is entangled in, providing avenues for action.

When you, a Vampire, are handed the dice, roll them and narrate your Vampire coming across some information--maybe they're shaking down a contact, listening to one of their spies, or hypnotizing a mortal for information. Then, ask the Overplayer a loaded question about one of your Vampire's entanglements in politics--either one you've already uncovered, or one you're improvising off the cuff. Something like "Why do they owe me?"

(Tip: other players' Named connections, if you have their consent, make great entanglements!)

The Overplayer ends the phase once you have entangled the Vampires sufficiently to have an idea of what happens next, and it's usually a Perilous phase.

A small preface.

A small preface. I wanted a character that could exist in both a Shades Without Mirror and a Swords Without Master (which is maybe pushing the envelope.) Here goes nothing - normally i like to distill my characters more, but this seems more like a novella that i cannot shorten. Probably a bad sign.

I have tried to challenge myself, combining many of the coolest elements i have heard and seen in swords without master. "Things as characters", "multiple entities as a single character" and weird eidolons. it is fine if this character never sees play - for i think that may well be a challenge. But now the idea has been purged from my system.

Pr.s:m "rose" and the quantum driver
Pr.s:m "rose" is the bio-mechanic core of the grand station "The Satellite Loving."

That which was once one, is now two: the masked quantum driver exists both outside and inside The Satellite Loving, to dance and drive in reverie whomever chooses to be her vehicle.

all that deserves a name

The Satellite Loving the divinely bio-mechanical satellite which floats around earth, containing the true forms of "rose", the quantum driver and She The First.

Inverse Cross ICE - The inverse cross ice is a virus which allows the infected to experience absolute synesthesia. If the infected chooses to fully accept rose, they will fuse and bind, their body and mind reaching The Satellite Loving: Now they may dance with the quantum driver.

White Lipped One, She The First - The Lonely freckled lover of the quantum driver. To be able to spend eternity together, she joined the satellite loving in marriage in its race across the sky. The station respects and worships her for it.

Feats heroic
Overdrive
A cacophony of futuristic tones opens the minds of the infected. Glinting gold races towards to the enemy.

Glum
Inside the station, they both writhe and dance, she being led by the newly accepted.

Unparalleled - Replace jovial with "overdrive"

Can anyone think of a reason why SWM would not work in a wild west/weird west flavor with (practically) zero hacking?

Can anyone think of a reason why SWM would not work in a wild west/weird west flavor with (practically) zero hacking? And would you play it with me?

The only potential issue that comes to mind is gunplay over swordplay in the Perilous phase, but it seems like that could be overcome pretty easily.

I had the great privilege to play SWM this weekend with Jonathan Jung Johansen, Johannes Oppermann, and AndrĂ© Rodrigues at the Danish freeform festival Fastaval. It's normally a larp dominated space, so we were rouges ourselves to play tabletop.

Jonathan and I met at #SundayEveningSwords a few weeks prior in a lightning in a bottle session with Derek A. Kamal, Josh McGraw, and Miguel Zapico. Jonathan and I knew we had to meet in person and play again, and I'm so very glad we did! This international community of SWM fans really is something special to me.

Sunday Morning Swords: 27 March 2016

#TheReturnOfTheWizardEdition

Good morning!

Here's our organizational thread for #SundayAMSwords. All welcome regardless of familiarity with the game! Comment below if you're interested in playing this morning and mention if you're comfortable being an Overplayer and whether or not you have play Swords before.

When we get an Overplayer and three or four Rogue Players, those players will run off and start their hangout. For now, let's focus on getting everyone into a group. We'll probably wait until 9:30 EST to start the last group. If you can't make that, check back in a few hours. I hear rumors of other games firing up later in the day for those who wake at a more civilized time. If you don't see one, feel free to fire on up yourself.

Use the hashtag #SundayAMSwords should you desire to chat about your game on the social medias. And bring your breakfast or brunch. Adventurers need their sustenance! And coffee.

P.S. Got some tips on how to do this and links to useful files here: http://www.worldswithoutmaster.com/blog/2014/7/14/sunday-morning-swords

I'm looking for some help.

I'm looking for some help. I don't quite get the Swords and Sorcery genre. Can any of you recommend movies, series, audiobooks, etc. to help me build more context for Swords without Master?

I specifically asked for video and audio recommendations because my dyslexia has all-but barred me from the fantasy genre at large.

Making some aids for my Swords Without Master game. I wanted a time card a bit more fancy than my index card. We were also tripping over the procedures in the phases so I made some graphical reference cards.

A #SwordsWithoutMaster Rogue

A #SwordsWithoutMaster Rogue

Ok, this character is a bit on overdrive. But i think it may be extremely cool to play, and play with.

The Eidolon is a picture of little lady and the silvered one, the arms of Minai dancing around them.

Atum the gutted.

All That Deserves A Name

Veilripper: The curved dagger with which Atum rips apart the gate to the gods - which recides in his belly.

The silver string: the navel-attached string-and-needle Atum uses to suture and heal the veil.

Lovers embrace: armour made of many bronzed arms holding the sutures. Gifted to him by Minai, the capricious gods with which he has fallen in deep love.

the Gods of the dais but Minai: the endless gods who live beyond the veil, residing between the atoms. he can call all but Minai willingly - for she is the god of uncontrollable passion and melancholy.

This shadowed veil: the veiled robe, flowing from the strings in his belly that gives Atum's lower body form.

Pure-tear bauble: The talking, snarking, sadistic bauble that keeps Atum company.

Feats Heroic

Jovial
plunging the veilripper deep into his belly, Atum summons forth "Little Lady and The Silvered One."

Glum
The many arms tighten 'round Atum's chest in a vicegrip of teary calamity, as bronze turns to onyx, and the smoky form of minai glares everywhere.

Trick

Inevitable Foe— The gods outside.

or maybe

Unparalleled - instead of glum, i have chivalry as a tone.

"Shades without Mirror" is a cyberpunk hack for Swords by Veles Svitlychny which i have been dying to try. You can find the hack here

Let's see if we can hit critical mass - i mean technological singularity.

Here's our organizational thread. Comment below if you're interested in playing friday evening and mention if you're comfortable being an Overplayer and whether or not you have played Swords before. Write at what time you are available, and lets see if we can stitch something together.

When we get an Overplayer [should we call it a Mr. Johnson, agent, AI?] and three or four Punk (rogue) Players, those players will run off and start their hangout.

For now, let's focus on getting everyone into a group, and to find out at what time you are available. It'll probably run 19.00 to 21.00 PM eastern - but lets see when people are available, if people are available for longer, and what we can stitch together.

If you are not in the EST timezone, you can use the following link to compare with your schedule. http://www.worldtimebuddy.com/est-to-gmt-converter

Calling out Veles Svitlychny,Derek A. Kamal, George Pletz, Jon Cole, Josh McGraw, Miguel Zapico - Veles, its your hack, so i thought you may wanted to see. You others were more than fantastic to play swords with, and it was around the same time of day, so i thought you might be interested.
